This quote relates to Scout because reading is part of her. It is what she loves to do and what she is good at. This quote shows that she took reading for granted until she realizes what a gift it truly is. Reading is how Scout acquires her knowledge and she loves to read no matter what. She is a very curious and obedient character. To her reading is a privilege not a right and she takes her time to appreciate the little things she is given as the book progresses.
"Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing"
"If there's just one kind of folks, why can't they get along with each other? If they're all alike, who they go out of their way to despise each other? Scout, I think I'm beginning to understand something. I think I'm beginning to understand why Boo Radley's stayed shut up in the house all this time . . . it's because he wants to stay inside." -Jem Finch
"The Radley Place fascinated Dill. In spite of our warning and explanations it drew him as the moon draws water, but drew him no nearer than the light-pole on the corner, a safe distance from the Radley gate."
Dill is an adventurous and curious kid played throughout the story so far. This quote relates to Dill because it explains his curiosity for Boo Radley. Dill is an average kid whose curiosity is almost at his highest, and he has sparked his interest upon Boo. Dill stayed fascinated even though he got warnings, and that drew him even closer towards his interest to the Radley house.
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view . . . until you climb into his skin and walk around in it" ()
This is the main lesson the kids have learned so far because they are learning not to judge someone or their actions based on the limited information you are privy too. You'll never understand someone and why they do the things they do until you are put into their circumstances. Atticus is trying to teach them that in order to understand someone's reasoning, one must look at situations from multiple perspectives. This is a very vital lesson that was taught to them because they will now not be quick to judge upon someone. The kids all know that racism is wrong, and this helped them understand not to judge someone from the color of their skin.
